About the role

This Applications Developer 2 position with the Public Safety Information Technology Delivery Center supports systems used daily across the Commonwealth and helps improve tools that assist public safety agencies in their work. The role offers steady challenges and opportunities to make a real impact on important technology services.

Responsibilities

Maintain and improve Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) modules and forms using XML, VB.NET, and related tools
Assist with connections between TraCS and external systems such as Records Management Systems (RMS) and the Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN)
Troubleshoot issues using the TraCS Software Developer Kit (SDK) and other development tools
Check automated processes and take action when they fail
Create and update technical documents to support system understanding
Participate in project work and support continuity plans during emergencies

Requirements

One year as an Applications Developer 1 or Computer Programmer 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title); or
Four years of information technology experience that includes two years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or
Two years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or
A bachelor's degree in any information technology field

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements

Must meet the PA residency requirement
Must be able to perform essential job functions
Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Schedule

Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: Part-time work from home may be available. Reporting in-office is required on Thursday and Friday each week. Telework is subject to change at any time and requires a securely configured high-speed internet connection from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
