Applications are Requested for CEGA Fellowship Program: 2025-2026

The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) invites applications for the 2025-2026 Fellowship Program aimed at early-career researchers from East and West Africa. The program is a 16-week in-person fellowship at Northwestern University (spring 2026 only) or the University of California, Berkeley (fall 2025 & spring 2026) that focuses on improving abilities in quantitative social science research and effect evaluation. Academic Conferences & Publications Discover more Language Resources Biological Sciences Education Research Directions General Development Research Early Childhood Development Youth Livelihoods Eligibility The following prerequisites must be fulfilled in order to apply for the CEGA Fellowship Program: Fluency in English: Excellent communication abilities, both in writing and speaking, are necessary. History Geographic Requirements: Candidates must have finished secondary school at an African institution and be from East or West Africa. Early Career Scholars: Candidates should be engaged in a PhD program or have just finished a Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant social science, such as economics, political science, statistics, epidemiology/public health, or education. Those who have finished their PhD within the previous eight years will be given preference. Affiliation: Candidates must be employed or enrolled in classes at a research institution (university or research organisation) in East or West Africa, preferably one that specialises in quantitative social science research with policy implications. Fellows will assess programs aimed at helping young people (ages 16-24) access meaningful work through education, skills training, and comprehensive support. Priority will be given to applicants from Kenya, particularly those conducting research in Mombasa. Leave Approval: Include a letter from your supervisor confirming you can take a 4-month leave. References: Provide contact details for two references who can speak to your qualifications.
