About the Program
The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) 2025-2026 Fellowship Program is a 16-week in-person fellowship at Northwestern University (spring 2026) or the University of California, Berkeley (fall 2025 & spring 2026). The program focuses on improving abilities in quantitative social science research and impact evaluation, with a particular emphasis on assessing programs aimed at helping youth (ages 16-24) access meaningful work through education, skills training, and comprehensive support. Priority will be given to applicants from Kenya, particularly those conducting research in Mombasa.
Eligibility
- Fluency in English: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Geographic Requirements: Candidates must have completed secondary school at an African institution and be from East or West Africa.
- Early Career Scholars: Candidates should be enrolled in a PhD program or have recently completed a Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant social science field (e.g., economics, political science, statistics, epidemiology/public health, or education). Preference will be given to those who completed their PhD within the last eight years.
- Affiliation: Candidates must be employed or enrolled at a research institution (university or research organization) in East or West Africa, preferably one specializing in quantitative social science research with policy implications.
