Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for an Applications Analyst in Anaheim, CA. The primary role of this position is to develop, implement, and support the core organization applications.

About the role

The Applications Analyst will use application expertise to engage administrative and clinical staff to help translate operational and application needs into technical solutions. This role will identify and implement information system solutions that support more efficient and effective work performance, and will be responsible for the advanced administration of clinical and business systems while serving as an educator and resource regarding system functionality.

Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities to improve quality, safety, cost, and satisfaction for patients, customers, and employees. The role serves as the primary resource for performing regular system maintenance tasks on clinical and business applications, instruments, and related technologies. The Applications Analyst will support enhancement projects and promote a high level of service, knowledge, and skill within the application support team through information sharing and documentation of problem resolution.

Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees, including the Applications Analyst.

Responsibilities

  • Assist departments in defining requirements for proposed business applications; review, analyze, and evaluate business applications and user needs; translate business objectives into application requirements.
  • Design, develop, and implement business software applications.
  • Coordinate implementation of system software, including conversion of data to new systems; work with application support personnel to resolve system problems.
  • Provide and/or ensure follow-up on trouble calls and tickets; correspond with or meet customers and vendors as needed to understand and resolve concerns.
  • Conduct business analysis; evaluate business processes; determine business needs; identify requirements; and develop business plan analysis.
  • Analyze and resolve technology-related problems; resolve compatibility problems and troubleshoot system software, hardware, and communication problems.
  • Serve as liaison with system software and hardware suppliers and vendors; monitor contracted services for quality and compliance.
  • Learn and understand all business applications and systems.
  • Provide end-user training to assist with the adoption of new or changed practices and perform demonstrations of new features as needed.
  • Create, record, and maintain user access and security.
  • Function as an administrator for all assigned organization applications.
  • Ensure that implementation and development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Document technical issues and escalate them within IT.
  • Provide first-level response for technical issues related to clinical/business applications.
  • Interact on-site and remotely with end users to diagnose application problems.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide weekend coverage for Health Centers personnel.
  • Support projects and enhancements by assisting with project tasks as assigned, after-hours build-outs leading up to changes, and completion of QA & testing checklist.
  • Manage support and maintenance of ultrasound devices and service calls.
  • Develop, support, and manage application security for all enterprise software solutions and applications.
  • Work directly with business partners, systems, development, and analytics teams to support the storage, management, and integrity of application data within the organization’s enterprise solutions.
  • Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency to develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Work directly with business partners to develop enhanced application solutions to improve workflow and promote integration and automation opportunities.
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation rollout of major software upgrades; coordinate testing efforts with appropriate organization resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required; however, four additional years of directly relevant experience or equivalent combination may be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in developing and delivering business computer applications.
  • Experience implementing, upgrading, and configuring systems required.
  • Three or more years’ experience in healthcare, ambulatory care setting is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of business processes and process redesign.
  • Proven experience and working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records & Practice Management systems is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of supporting enterprise-level software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of system and software best practices and methodologies.
  • Good project management skills or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
  • Ability to research application development issues and projects.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Self-motivated and directed; strong attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Respect for confidentiality and good judgment.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills, accuracy, and attention to detail essential.

  • High-level computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.

Pay

Minimum Salary Range: USD $73,318.00/year
Maximum Salary Range: USD $97,888.00/year
