Application Support Engineer
About the role
The Application Support Engineer on the Unified Platform Support team will be part of a tight-knit and expanding team of support analysts at a top-tier proprietary trading firm. You will be working hand-in-hand with developers to provide sophisticated research and compliance tools to the users across the firm.
Responsibilities
- Operate key parts of a sophisticated data analysis pipeline
- Maintain and monitor production jobs
- Resolve data-related issues, including reviewing code
- Collaborate with developers to improve the system
- Respond to user issues via support channels (2-10 per day)
- Provide L1 and L2 support for users and assist with L3 support
- Onboard support processes for new development teams and applications
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting high-performance applications in the financial markets industry
- Experience supporting Linux environments
- Experience with market data or order data systems
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with transfer protocols for financial data (FIX, native protocols)
- Knowledge of object-oriented code (Java, Python preferred)
- Familiarity with version control software (git or svn)
- Experience with cloud computing, AWS preferred
- SQL experience including queries/updates/table creation/basic database maintenance

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $165,000 depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
Schedule
The role is open to being remote for candidates with the appropriate skills. Candidates must be located in either Chicago, New York, Greenwich, or Austin and come into the office 3 days per week.
