Application Security Engineer

About the role

Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend, or receive money across borders easily, quickly, or cheaply—so we’re building a new one. As a Security Engineer, you’ll help us build a global platform that’s scalable, reliable, and secure while tackling exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll be responsible for building security-focused technical solutions with high standards for code quality, architecture, performance, reliability, and adherence to company-wide engineering standards. You’ll also monitor, detect, respond to, and manage security incidents to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our information systems.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical solutions for detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, and threat intelligence as part of an autonomous team.
- Help scale and build a world-class Security Operations Center (SOC).
- Work with large-scale distributed systems, leveraging expertise in Windows, MacOS, or Linux.
- Utilize tools like Elastic, EDR, SIEM, WAF, and cloud infrastructure to tackle security challenges and own projects end-to-end.
- Investigate problems to their root cause, fueling your passion for learning and threat hunting through data exploration.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team to solve complex problems and drive impactful solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure our systems remain secure and resilient around the clock.
Qualifications
- Experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, or threat intelligence.
- Proficiency with large-scale distributed systems and operating systems like Windows, MacOS, or Linux.
- Hands-on experience with Elastic, EDR, SIEM, WAF, or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for investigating issues to their root cause.
- Ability to thrive in an environment of open feedback and continuous improvement.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Python, Go, asynchronous message queues, or microservices architecture.
- Skills in designing, deploying, and maintaining clean RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
