About The Role

The Application Security Analyst (AI Training) role at Alignerr is a unique opportunity to combine your security expertise with cutting-edge AI development. In this fully remote, flexible contract position, you will leverage your knowledge of application security to train AI systems in reasoning about security risks. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze real-world security scenarios involving code, APIs, and live system behavior, and to develop structured reasoning datasets that teach AI how to assess, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of how software vulnerabilities manifest in production environments and the ability to translate complex security concepts into clear, structured training data for AI models. You will work asynchronously, setting your own schedule, and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on the future of secure AI systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in application, product, or software security
• Strong knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and their manifestation in production systems
• Experience analyzing security scenarios involving code, APIs, and system behavior
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to explain security reasoning clearly and systematically
• Self-motivated and capable of working asynchronously on task-based assignments
• Critical thinking skills to distinguish genuine threats from noise
• Ability to evaluate secure coding practices and remediation strategies

Responsibilities

• Analyze realistic application security scenarios across various components including code, APIs, and live systems
• Classify and assess vulnerabilities such as authentication flaws, injection risks, access control issues, and business logic errors
• Evaluate the quality of secure coding practices and proposed remediation strategies
• Build and validate security-focused reasoning datasets to train AI systems in security assessment
• Distinguish between real-world exploitability and theoretical risks through structured reasoning and documentation
• Collaborate with research teams to improve AI models' understanding of security vulnerabilities
• Contribute to the development of threat models, vulnerability reports, and security documentation as needed
