Application (Sales) Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during the sales and implementation process.
  • Understand customer needs and translate them into effective packaging solutions in close collaboration with the Sales Manager.
  • Support the sales team with technical insights during customer meetings, trainings, and trade shows.
  • Prepare and present solution proposals, including layouts, cost estimates, and ROI calculations.
  • Lead customer application projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
  • PSE Project Management and Innovation
    • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to define application scope and deliverables.
    • Fuel PSE with new innovative concept ideas to drive customer value and differentiation from competitors.
    • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align on application requirements and timelines.
    • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and deployment of customized solutions.
    • Support post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions.
    • Provide input on product improvements and new product introductions (NPIs) based on customer feedback and market trends.
    • Identify opportunities for application optimization and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., CE, UL_CA) and customer-specific requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a sales background.
  • 5+ years of experience in application engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial automation setting.
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to translate needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • ERP knowledge (preferably SAP).
  • Strong understanding of logistic systems, automation technology, and integration processes.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as CE and UL_CA.
  • Hands-on mentality, proactive, and solution-oriented.
  • Team player (also in global teams).
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
