About the role
Dispatcher 12-Hour Shifts
Day: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Night: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Responsibilities
- Answer all incoming 911 calls for Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet County.
- Track personnel, reports, addresses, maps, and more using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD).
- Use Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) to assist Law Enforcement in traffic stops, warrant checks, and officer safety cautions.
- Maintain and distribute LEIN bulletins to local law enforcement agencies.
- Monitor and respond to radio traffic for public safety agencies.
- Monitor weather-related information and make decisions based on this information.
- Implement emergency medical dispatch protocols to ensure the most appropriate level of care is sent to patients.
Requirements
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Pass a psychological evaluation.
- Pass a physical exam, drug screen, and hearing test.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Competence in typing at 30 words per minute or higher.
- Knowledge of PC applications.
- Certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch.
- Certified in CPR.
- Certified in Michigan LEIN.

Schedule
24-hour operation with 12-hour shifts. No guarantee on shift assignment or length of time on a particular shift. Required overtime may be ordered/forced.
