About the role

Dispatcher 12-Hour Shifts
Day: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Night: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.

Responsibilities

• Answer all incoming 911 calls for Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet County.
• Track personnel, reports, addresses, maps, and more using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD).
• Use Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) to assist Law Enforcement in traffic stops, warrant checks, and officer safety cautions.
• Maintain and distribute LEIN bulletins to local law enforcement agencies.
• Monitor and respond to radio traffic for public safety agencies.
• Monitor weather-related information and make decisions based on this information.
• Implement emergency medical dispatch protocols to ensure the most appropriate level of care is sent to patients.

Requirements

• Pass a criminal background check.
• Pass a background investigation.
• Pass a psychological evaluation.
• Pass a physical exam, drug screen, and hearing test.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Competence in typing at 30 words per minute or higher.
• Knowledge of PC applications.
• Certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch.
• Certified in CPR.
• Certified in Michigan LEIN.

Schedule

24-hour operation with 12-hour shifts. No guarantee on shift assignment or length of time on a particular shift. Required overtime may be ordered/forced.
