About the role

The Application Portfolio Manager oversees the application lifecycle, strategy, and roadmap for a major engineering systems portfolio. This role focuses on technologies from Autodesk, Bentley, AVEVA, and Hexagon, and involves defining and delivering initiatives, driving modernization efforts, and aligning technology capabilities with business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the application lifecycle, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for a major engineering systems portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary owner for engineering-system-related initiatives, ensuring business requirements are understood and solutions are deployed effectively.
  • Drive modernization efforts, particularly moving legacy engineering environments into cloud-based platforms and virtual desktop environments.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, software vendors, and service providers to align internal technology strategy with vendor roadmaps and business needs.
  • Manage relationships with key software providers such as Autodesk, Bentley, Hexagon, AVEVA, and Esri.
  • Influence application packaging and deployment priorities by working with teams responsible for software deployment activities.
  • Oversee software licensing operations, including rationalization, right-sizing, and contract renewals.
  • Lead and develop a team responsible for executing work within the portfolio.
  • Provide oversight to IT service providers to ensure systems are available, performant, and supported.

Requirements

  • Proven enterprise application portfolio management experience, including managing enterprise engineering systems within a large organization.
  • Experience with application lifecycle management, licensing, infrastructure modernization, and portfolio governance.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, enterprise data integration, and systems architecture design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) industry.
  • Exposure to Autodesk and Bentley ecosystems, including related project delivery experience.
  • Experience working with software vendors and account executives.
  • Background in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise design and modeling environments.
  • Experience leading managed service providers through project scoping and execution.
  • Experience with cloud transformation projects and managing third-party SaaS and application hosting platforms.
  • Familiarity with application packaging and deployment technologies such as SCCM and ITIL service management frameworks like ServiceNow.
