Job Summary
The Application Engineer III will coordinate the planning and design of control systems, including programming and system configuration. Responsibilities also include coaching and mentoring the control system engineering team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Executes project start-ups, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installed BAS controls and mechanical systems on assigned projects.
- Participates in the layout and coordination of network drops, IP addresses, and monitoring tools with customer's IT Department personnel.
- Runs complex reports to analyze system operation, works with project team to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency with the contracted scope of work.
- Develops written sequence of operation based on mechanical drawings.
- Understands the design and intent of mechanical equipment and systems such as Chiller, Boiler, Custom AHU’s, Primary/Secondary pumping, Variable flow Chilled water plants, Clean Room Applications, Demand Response, and Energy solutions.
- Analyzes systems and develops scope of work for controls implementation, creates control algorithms, downloads source code to controllers, and manages databases.
- Gives technical presentations on building automation, controls, and emerging technology.
- Participates in final inspection and testing, ensures customer acceptance, and conducts training for end user customers on system operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
- Strong networking background required, 8+ years of direct automation experience with control system architecture design and programming, 6+ years with Niagara AX/N4, Distech, Delta, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Schneider, and Delta required.
- Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
- Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
Pay
Compensation Range: $55 - $65 per hour
