Application Engineer I - LV and MV Motors

About the role
You will provide customer support and development for engineered low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) motors, delivering technical and commercial solutions from the inception of a Request for Quotation (RFQ) through negotiation close-out.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with Field Sales, customers, engineering groups, and factories.
- Compile and compose accurate proposals for WEG’s product offerings, reviewing supplied information (specifications, emails, phone calls, etc.).
- Provide technical and commercial training and mentoring to inside sales, field sales, and customers as appropriate.
- Lead and take ownership of quotations/opportunities by requesting feedback from Sales or directly from customers.
- Identify project/customer details critical for determining quotation strategies and competitive strengths/weaknesses.
- Assist LV Motors team members technically and commercially as needed.
- Create medium-complexity working instructions, procedures, SOPs (Standard Operational Procedures), and Customer-Specific Guidelines.
- Participate in conference calls and/or customer visits with limited outside sales assistance.
- Provide guidance to the Order Entry team to ensure accurate order configuration.
- Organize all quotation/order documentation electronically and in hard copy (as needed).
- Follow up with sales teams and customers on open opportunities.
- Perform electrical and mechanical calculations using available engineering software.
- Create technical documentation (datasheets, drawings, torsional analysis) using available engineering software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering (preferred). In lieu of a degree, at least 4 years of relevant work experience with LV and/or MV motors.
- Proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Able to read, speak, understand, and compose clear technical dialog in English.
- Understands low to medium-complexity customer specifications.
- Moderate understanding of industry standards such as NEMA MG1 and IEEE 841.
- Moderate understanding of in-house application programs to secure medium to complex designs without factory support.
- Familiarity with SAP programs.
- Understanding of cost and pricing structures for company products.
- Understanding of the sales process for LV & MV motor products.
- Understanding of industry requirements, applications, OEMs, EPCs, and end users.
- Awareness of market trends, legislation, and environmental changes that may impact the business.
- Understanding of competition and their strengths/weaknesses.
- Knowledge of LV and MV WEG motor products, including product scopes.
- Moderate understanding of project management for business development.
