Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support for all aspects of assigned product line to ensure functionality, quality, cost, and schedule by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities
- Reviews construction documents to determine appropriate YKK AP products to be used based upon local building codes, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Prepares project specific analysis for YKK AP products to be used for compliance with construction documents and building codes by preparing preliminary engineering review reports to substantiate that member section properties meet the span, spacing, and design load specified on a specific time schedule.
- Determines from the contract documents, project location, model and local building codes, and national standards the design pressures for product application.

- Develops product modifications on an as needed basis.
- Advises internal and external customers on product selection and its appropriate installation.
- Provides guidance to all customers on product modification to satisfy project conditions and requirements.
- Led the production of or produces CAD drawings of special application and detailing, custom die production, installation instruction, and test mockup review.
- Communicates with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer’s needs and solution.
- Assists with the development of product design and functionality.
- Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architectural or industrial design required. Combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered.
- 5 years of related experience; framing experience preferred
- AAMA Fenestration Associate certification preferred
- Ability to review, interpret and explain curtain wall, storefront, or related facade shop drawing, architectural and structural drawings is preferred
- Experience with 3D Auto CAD software skill and fabrication drawings background is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
