To fulfill its mission, the team is looking for a motivated processing researcher to work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to develop and evaluate processing methods for various end-use applications.

As a processing researcher, you will oversee experimental planning, execution, and sample preparation through means of thermoplastic molding, thermoplastic extrusion, elastomer processing, and similar related processing methodologies. This role emphasizes open communication, development of expertise across multiple processing operations, and testing/data analysis to support multiple teams throughout Syensqo. You will work in a multidisciplinary network across ADL, R&I/Product Development, Customer Technical Development (CTD), and Frontline commercial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with ADL engineers, R&I/Product Development scientists, Customer Technical Development (CTD) engineers, and Researchers to design and execute experiments and test methods for various products, process development, application/market-specific testing, and prototyping activities.
  • Execution of judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
  • Operation of thermoplastic and/or elastomer processing equipment independently, reliably, and safely.
  • Effective communication of experimental results to stakeholders, both written and verbally.
  • Documentation of results, data entry into relevant systems, and timely closure of requests.
  • Independent solving of routine problems following established procedures.
  • Organization, management, and analysis of data (calculations, correlations, etc.), and drawing conclusions.
  • Performing basic set-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory, process, or fabrication equipment.
  • Demonstration of safe laboratory working practices and confidentiality tenets with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Participation in safety audits and safety meetings; closes open audit action items in a timely manner.

  • Minimum 2+ years of technical experience performing basic set-up and troubleshooting of processing equipment, preferably in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience with thermoplastic molding and/or thermoplastic extrusion equipment.
  • Elastomer processing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with polymer processing topics: equipment, theory, typical practices, etc.
  • Ability to design and prototype in various laboratory configurations, demonstrating strong visualization skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to leverage and coordinate resources and team expertise as needed to execute projects.
  • Ability to negotiate workflow and priorities for multiple independent projects.
