About the role

We are seeking an Application Development Lead who serves as a technical expert, providing leadership in the design, development, and delivery of technology-enabled applications, products, and services. This role drives solutions to technical issues, ensures development schedules are met, and guarantees delivered solutions align with technical specifications and design requirements.

You will play a critical role in initiatives aimed at enhancing, remediating, transforming, modernizing, and supporting application systems and platforms across diverse technologies. This position requires hands-on technical leadership, close partnership with multiple technology teams, and collaboration with business stakeholders to deliver solutions for a wide range of technical initiatives.

This is a fast-paced environment where you will provide technical leadership for multiple initiatives in parallel, identify impacts, resolve technical barriers, and provide executive updates. You will also ensure process adherence for security, audit compliance, operational improvements, and technology enhancements, while ensuring application solutions are designed, deployed, and operated on secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure platforms.

Responsibilities

Leads design and implementation of technology products and applications using best practices and modern design patterns.
Coordinates systems installation and software testing with other technologists through all phases of the software development life cycle.
Leads development initiatives to modernize and remediate technical debt for technology products and applications.
Assists application teams and users with isolating and resolving software issues by leading root-cause analysis, providing resolution options, and recommendations.
Partners with Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security teams to design and implement scalable, highly available, and resilient platforms.
Ensures applications are designed with infrastructure considerations, including capacity planning, performance tuning, failover, and recovery.
Drives adoption of cloud-native architectures, containerization, and platform engineering practices where applicable.
Oversees environment strategy (DEV, QA, UAT, PROD) to ensure consistency, automation, and governance across environments.
Ensures observability (monitoring, logging, alerting) is in place to support proactive issue detection and performance management.
Collaborates on disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity strategies, including testing and validation of recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).
Ensures infrastructure security standards, patching, and vulnerability remediation are incorporated into the application lifecycle.
Supports infrastructure cost optimization initiatives through efficient resource utilization and architectural decisions.
Partners with security, infrastructure, and business teams to establish long-term strategic business and systems objectives.
Addresses day-to-day production support issues by driving resolution for fixes.
Works with team members (technical and basis) and subject matter experts (end users) to produce requirements and design documents.
Documents all specifications and requirements for implementation and development of Business Process Procedures (BPPs).
Provides support for functional testing to ensure business requirements are met while following technical standards.
Reviews current functionality and processes and recommends improvements.
Documents and supports disaster recovery and resiliency efforts.
Leads and participates in enhancements, system upgrades, patches, and remediation efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Logistics, Transportation, or Business. Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
Master’s Degree preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
5+ years in application development or technology management, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Travel: Yes, up to 10%.

Skills

Strong technical aptitude with demonstrated skills in configuration management, data management, cloud solutions, information management, network security, IT architecture, infrastructure design, systems integration, and systems life-cycle management.
Expertise in MS-SQL/SSIS-SSRS.
Advanced knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems.
Beginner-level proficiency in C#/.Net/ASP and Web Services/API.
Intermediate-level proficiency in Manhattan SCALE/SCI (preferred).
Intermediate-level proficiency in integration software using ANSI X12, XML, and Database Tables (preferred).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to create and maintain professional relationships at all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.
Capable of multitasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills.
Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices.

Pay

Salaried position with a minimum pay range of $100,000.00 and a maximum pay range of $120,000.00. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on level and/or type.
