Application Developer - Senior

About the role

Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Build real-time data pipelines and messaging solutions with Apache Kafka, and create distributed systems that ensure fault tolerance, scalability, and high availability on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Responsibilities

• Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, peer code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
• Design and implement Kafka producer and consumer applications for distributed data streams; optimize Kafka configurations for performance and scalability.
• Deploy and manage distributed applications on cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with product management, frontend developers, and DevOps to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for backend services, Kafka pipelines, and BPMN workflows; proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Stay updated on industry trends and contribute to the improvement of development processes and team productivity.

Requirements

• 7–12 years of overall experience with strong proficiency in Java (7+).
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and related Spring frameworks (Spring Data, Spring Security, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of Apache Kafka (setup, topics, partitions, offsets, schemas, Kafka Streams).
• Solid understanding of distributed system architecture, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Expertise in building RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, or Confluent Platform.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and tools like Istio, Envoy, or service mesh solutions.
• Familiarity with caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
• Understanding of event-driven architectures and patterns.
• Exposure to monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Elasticsearch.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies.

Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM CST.
