Application Developer – Network & Market Data Instrumentation (Python)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Application Developer with strong Python development skills to build automation and tooling supporting a high-performance network instrumentation and packet analytics environment. This is a software engineering role focused on automation—not a network operations position. The ideal candidate has experience developing automation for network infrastructure, packet capture environments, metadata management, and low-latency trading systems. You will design scalable tooling that provides visibility into market data feeds, trading infrastructure, and network performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python automation for packet capture and instrumentation platforms
- Build automated validation tools to verify market data feed integrity
- Develop processes to collect and maintain metadata for network infrastructure and trading environments
- Automate configuration generation for packet capture devices and aggregation switches
- Develop tooling to monitor network performance, drops, and latency
- Build APIs and chatbot integration layers for querying instrumentation environments
- Collaborate with infrastructure engineers and business stakeholders
- Improve automation, operational efficiency, and system visibility
Requirements
- Strong Python development experience
- Experience building automation tools
- Experience with packet capture or network analytics platforms
- Understanding of network infrastructure including: Load Balancers, Firewalls, Network Switches, Packet Capture
- Experience with metadata automation
- API development
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Excellent communication skills

Pay
$70 to $80 hourly (W-2)
Location: New York, NY (10286) – hybrid onsite assignment. New York residency required.
