Application & Data Engineering (US Support)

6-month initial contract, 100% remote. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder due to client restrictions.

About the role

We are hiring an Application & Data Engineering contractor to support web application development, data engineering, ETL pipeline development, and backend database integration within the Azure Commercial Cloud environment. This role will work closely with applications, data, platform, and business teams to build and support cloud-based business applications using Azure Web Apps, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, SQL Server, Redis cache, and modern UI/API development technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications in the Azure Commercial Cloud environment
• Design and implement ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory
• Integrate applications with Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Blob Storage
• Build and consume REST APIs
• Develop application user interfaces using React.js, Angular, or similar frontend frameworks
• Implement and troubleshoot web application security, including authentication, authorization, role-based access control, OAuth, SSO, JWT, and secure API access
• Troubleshoot issues across UI, API, database, data pipeline, and access-related components
• Collaborate with applications, data, platform, and business teams in an Agile environment

Requirements

• Strong Snowflake database experience, including creating tables, views, stored procedures, functions, tasks/jobs, and writing medium to complex SQL queries
• Experience with Snowflake schema design, data loading, query tuning, and troubleshooting
• Azure Web Application development experience
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Backend API development experience using .NET Core, Node.js, Python FastAPI, or similar frameworks
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory for pipeline creation, scheduling, monitoring, and maintenance
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration patterns
• Redis cache knowledge, including cache-aside patterns, performance improvement, and troubleshooting
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps
• Experience with Git-based source control, branching, pull requests, and deployment workflows

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Key Vault, Managed Identity, and Application Insights
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality checks, data lineage, and data validation
• Experience with Databricks, Matillion, Informatica, Talend, or other ETL/data engineering tools
• Experience with performance tuning for SQL queries, APIs, and web applications
• Knowledge of cloud security, network connectivity, private endpoints, firewall rules, and secrets management
• Experience working in Agile teams with user stories, sprint planning, testing, and production support
