About the Role

Ring Neighbors is looking to add a Software Development Engineer to our rapidly growing development team. Ring Neighbors, launched in 2018, is a hyperlocal social networking app providing real-time crime and safety alerts from neighbors and public safety agencies. The Neighbors app is available on iOS (4.8 stars), Android (4.6 stars), recently launched on Web, and is also embedded within the Ring app. Neighbors is used by millions of people each month.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the definition, vision, design, roadmap, and development of the Neighbors app at Ring. This role involves design, architecture, and implementation of customer experiences. You will shape the technical direction of features and the feature roadmap, work with extraordinary talent, and have the opportunity to hire and shape the team.

About the Team

The team owns Android and iOS apps in Kotlin and Swift, as well as services built primarily in Go and Python, utilizing AWS Lambdas as part of an event-driven architecture. The team is responsible for delivering backend services and web tools used by internal customers (Neighbors Administrators and Neighbors News Team). Moderation tooling includes a machine learning (ML) component ripe for future investment, and the team leverages a rich set of AWS services.

The team consists of backend, full-stack, and front-end developers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• 3+ years of Android development experience
• 3+ years of iOS development experience
• 3+ years of development experience in Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C environments

Pay

USA, CA, Hawthorne - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
