Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and completing in-home repairs on Frigidaire and Electrolux major appliances, including cooking, refrigeration, dish care and laundry products.
- Aim to complete repairs in a single visit while providing a positive consumer experience.
- Use sound judgement to recommend repairs or product replacements based on cost effectiveness and customer needs, prioritizing repairs whenever practical.
- Safely operate a service vehicle while commuting to an assigned route to multiple repair locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory of parts on assigned vehicles, minimizing cost through proficient inventory control.
- Utilize field service management (FSM) tools, mobile applications, and diagnostic software to manage routes, document service calls, and access technical resources.
- Follow all company safety protocols, including electrical, mechanical, and in-home service safety standards.
- Represent the Electrolux brand professionally, including proper use and care of company uniforms.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED preferred.
- Equivalent combination of directly related appliance repair experience, technical certifications, and demonstrated field competency may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Have or maintain a valid drivers license and successfully complete background check (including MVR check), physical examination and drug screening.
- EPA or CFC Certification Preferred.
- Basic technology aptitude including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams and FSM or relate.
- 2+ years experience in the appliance repair industry (5+ years without HS Diploma or GED).
- Must provide verifiable, stable work history.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation, including but not limited to: step up/down into company issued vehicle and sit for extended periods of time, use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, a tablet device, telephone, and other job-related equipment, operate and maneuver a service vehicle for business needs, including driving for extended periods or long distances, move appliances with or without reasonable accommodation, and with team assistance or mechanical equipment when necessary.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to diagnose and complete in home repairs of major appliances.
- Strong team orientation.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and other service information.
- Effective communication skills.
- Passion to serve consumer as well as shareholders of Consumer Service Experience teams.
- Demonstrate empathy for consumer’s needs and requirements.
- Able to drive a service vehicle through a daily route to consumer’s home.
- Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, a tablet device, telephone, and other job-related equipment.
- The employee may be required to operate and maneuver a service vehicle for business needs, including driving for extended periods or long distances.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver large appliances and other heavy or bulky objects exceeding 50 pounds.
- Duties may require moving appliances with or without reasonable accommodation, and with team assistance or mechanical equipment when necessary.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Necessary personal protective equipment, tools, and safety resources are provided to support safe completion of assigned duties.
Work Environment
- This is a field-based, remote position. Technicians operate independently within an assigned geographic territory and report virtually to leadership.
- In-person meetings, training sessions, or ride-along evaluations may occur periodically, with a minimum expectation of twice annually.
- Work is performed in customer homes and various indoor, outdoor and partially exposed environments, including kitchens, laundry areas, garages, basements, and utility spaces.
- The employee may encounter varying temperatures, weather conditions, tight spaces, uneven surfaces, dust, moisture, and normal appliance-related conditions.
- Necessary personal protective equipment, tools, and safety resources are provided to support safe completion of assigned duties.
Internal / External Communication
- This position requires over 95% external communication with consumers, supervisors, and other Consumer Service Experience personnel.
