Appellate Court Attorney Clerkship

One-year clerkship in the Court's Law Research Department, commencing Fall of 2026. Positions may be filled as either Appellate Court Attorney or Assistant Appellate Court Attorney, depending on applicant qualifications.

Assignment

• Research and analyze legal questions and issues
• Prepare preliminary reports and confidential memoranda
• Check for accuracy of citations
• Perform other related duties as directed by the Chief Appellate Court Attorney and the Clerk of the Court

Requirements

• Appellate Court Attorney: Admission to the New York State Bar. Base salary: $99,490
• Assistant Appellate Court Attorney: Graduation from an accredited law school with an exceptional record of academic achievement (e.g., law review membership, top 10% of class, cum laude, or magna cum laude) and admission to the New York State Bar within eighteen months of appointment. Base salary: $84,659
