Appellate Attorney

About the role

The ideal candidate will be joining a rapidly growing appellate practice group at Goodell, DeVries, Leech & Dann, LLP, an established litigation law firm in Baltimore. The firm values legal writers passionate about legal research and writing, and seeks someone who owns books by Bryan Garner, Ross Guberman, and Matthew Butterick, and has an opinion on the writing styles of Justices Kagan, Roberts, Ginsburg, and Gorsuch.

Responsibilities

- Own books by Bryan Garner, Ross Guberman, and Matthew Butterick. - Develop an appellate practice while working closely with excellent trial lawyers. - Practice law in Maryland, with D.C. and Virginia bar admission a strong plus. - Write lucidly and analyze sharply, with hard work appreciated. - Enjoy a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, the potential for performance-based bonuses, a great work environment, an on-site fitness center, in-building parking, and maternity/paternity benefits.

Requirements

- A gifted legal writer eager to develop these skills. - Appellate and federal clerkship experience, or a sinking feeling that BigLaw's mass-attrition business model does not fit their career goals and life. - Strong commitment to practicing law in Maryland, with D.C. and Virginia bar admission a strong plus.

Salary range: $120K - $160K.
