Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients, and treat acute and chronic illnesses
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests
- Involves patients and their families in care and treatment decisions
- Creates treatment plans and completes orders in patient's charts
- Collaborates with improvements in care delivery and service with staff, other physicians and management
- Initiates appropriate specialty referrals
- Provides clinical information to the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner
- Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete
- Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding and CPT code assignment
- Achieves and maintains optimal patient access
- Provides interdepartmental medical consultation as requested
- Participates in the development of medical protocols, standard procedures, and management of patients
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Connecticut State Physician Assistant License
- Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License
- Board specialty certification, as appropriate for position profile
- ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile
- DEA License
- Pediatric position profile: PALS, when indicated for neonatal care
- NRP Certification
Qualifications
- Licenses: Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, Board specialty certification, as appropriate for position profile, ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile, DEA License
- Experience: Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required
