Job Summary

The Sports Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for athletes and physically active individuals, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of sports-related injuries and conditions. The NP works in collaboration with physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient performance and recovery.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
  • If licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Experience in Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, or Rehabilitation preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
  • State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
  • National board certification as a Family (NP-C) or (FNP-BC)
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
