About the role
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at HSS at NCH is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the delivery of evidence-based nursing interventions for patients of the NCH Medical Group. Reporting directly to the supervising NCH Medical Group physician, the APP works in collaboration with the APPs, management team, peers, and staff to advance nursing and promote the development of an evidence-based professional practice environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop an active communication strategy with the medical and other staff to keep them informed about requirements regarding the conduct of their work.
- Work under the approved and agreed protocol signed by their supervising NCH Medical Group physician who will oversee all aspects of patient care delivered by the APP.
- Define, focus, and resolve problems in collaboration with the APP’s assigned physician as well as other members of the clinical and administrative staff.
- Participate in the development of the practice’s strategic plan, including long and short-term goals and objectives.
- Follow the performance evaluation program created by the Quality of Care Committee.
- Facilitate the recruitment of high-quality APPs and other professional personnel for the NCH Medical Group.
- Deliver medical care in a manner that is consistent with the terms of managed care and insurance contracts into which NCH Medical Group enters.
- Assist the NCH Medical Group administrative team prepare for and respond to all litigation in which it is involved.
- Provide leadership for all NCH Medical Group’s patient care activities, including:
- Exemplifying in personal and professional conduct, the clinical and administrative tone that emanates for the philosophy of care and thus sets the tone for all the professional and administrative staff.
- Ensuring that NCH Medical Group’s Medical Services are run in such a manner that the integrity and quality of the clinical programs are protected, fostered and improved.
- Participating fully in NCHHG programs of performance improvement with the goal being to strive for clinical excellence and improved patient outcomes.
- Ensuring that NCH Medical Group’s Medical Services meet all standards required for necessary accreditation and appropriate regulatory reviews, and document assessments, reviews, and other operations and activities necessary to assure the highest quality of clinical operations.
- Fostering high quality and efficient clinical operations within NCH Medical Group.
- Supervising medical support staff (e.g. LPN and Medical Assistant) who works in support of the APP’s practice.
- Designing, developing and implementing clinical programs fashioned to provide clinical care and activities related to medical treatment of patients in an efficient, effective, economic, and feasible manner.
- Oversight of medical services and clinical procedures to ensure their appropriateness, quality and integration as a part of the NCH Medical Group’s clinical program.
- Ensuring effective, sufficient, and efficient clinical staffing.
- Participating in committee or work group activities as reasonably requested by supervising physician Chief Medical Officer.
- Ensuring the effective protection and implementation of the patients’ bill of rights.
- Serving as liaison to the medical staff to ensure matters of medical importance are conveyed to the Board of Directors.
- Resolving immediate clinical problems which arise affecting patient care.
- Developing policies, procedures, and programs to identify the needs of the clinical and administrative staff to a) correct knowledge or skill deficits, b) to accomplish the continued professional development of the clinical and administrative staff.
- Representing NCH Medical Group in the community through interviews, lectures, organized consultation, and other appropriate activities.
- Carrying out all other duties and responsibilities in order to meet the clinical and administrative needs necessary to achieve NCH Medical Group’s goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited school of nursing and have completed advanced practice or nurse practitioner program.
- Minimum of experience in clinical with outstanding teaching skills and the ability to facilitate organizational change.
- Must have Board Certification in area of specialty, board eligible candidates will be considered with commitment to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- New Graduates must be certification eligible upon employment and obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the State of Florida.
- BLS certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
- Completes all NCH yearly competencies within the allotted timeframe.
- Maintains professional licensing requirements.
- Completion of all continuing education requirements needed to practice as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
