APP - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant | Neurosurgery

About the role

The Float Advanced Practice Provider (APP) supports a team of five Neurosurgeons across various care settings, including outpatient clinic, inpatient services, and surgical assisting. This role demands flexibility and a broad skill set to contribute comprehensively to neurosurgical care.

Responsibilities

• Supports Neurosurgeons in multiple care settings.
• Aids physicians in assessing patients, treating injuries, and managing ailments.
• Develops and implements treatment plans and prescribes medications as necessary.
• Maintains detailed patient records and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
• Counsels patients and their families on health promotion, risk reduction, and treatment plans.
• Conducts research and applies evidence-based practices to improve patient care and outcomes.
• Maintains current knowledge of state regulations and payer systems relevant to advanced practice provider practices.

Requirements

• Master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate in nursing from an accredited program.
• Licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
• Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances.
• Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC).

Qualifications

• Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• Demonstrated current competence and provision of care for an adequate volume of patients.
• Experience correlating to the privileges requested.
• Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of medical principles, practices, and techniques.
• Flexibility and adaptability to varied shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations.
