Key Responsibilities
- Perform shop inspections of pressure vessels, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, and related fabricated equipment.
- Report to the Slidell office as the daily work hub and coordinate assignments from that location.
- Review drawings, specifications, ITPs, repair plans, welding documentation, coating requirements, and applicable code requirements.
- Coincide inspection activities with fabrication shops based on hold points, witness points, and project schedules.
- Support API 510 repair work, including offshore assignments when required.
- Follow and oversee on-site tank inspections, tank construction, and tank repair activities at domestic locations.
- Provide technical oversight during repairs and be capable of supervising repair work, not simply monitoring an existing repair plan.
- Prepare inspection reports, punch lists, daily summaries, and final documentation packages.
- Manage your own inspection schedule based on active shop inspection hold points and project needs.
- Travel domestically for shop and field inspections as required.
Required Qualifications
- Current API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification.
- Experience inspecting pressure vessels, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, or similar fixed equipment.
- Working knowledge of applicable API, ASME, and industry inspection standards.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, ITPs, WPS/PQR documentation, repair plans, and inspection reports.
- Ability to supervise and provide technical direction during repair activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate directly with shops, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to report to and work from the Slidell, LA office as the primary daily work location.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically a few times per month for shop inspections.
- Willingness and ability to support domestic field assignments lasting a few days to a few months (rarely if ever) when needed.
- Ability to go offshore for API 510 repairs support when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional API certifications such as API 570 and/or API 653.
- NACE Level II / AMPP CIP Level 2 coatings inspection certification.
- CWI certification.
- Experience with tank inspections, tank construction, tank repairs, and API 653*related work.
- Experience with offshore inspection or repair oversight.
- Experience in fabrication shop inspection and vendor surveillance.
- Familiarity with welding inspection, NDE coordination, coatings inspection, hydrotesting, dimensional inspection, and final documentation review.
- TWIC card, offshore safety training, or other site-access credentials.
