About the role
The Auto Claim Representative I position involves handling low complexity automobile physical damage claims in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing claim information, assessing vehicle damage, determining coverage, and coordinating repairs or settlements.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing assigned claims
- Contacting the insured and other affected parties
- Setting expectations for the remainder of the claim process
- Initiating documentation in the claim handling system
- Completing complex coverage analysis
- Ensuring all possible policyholder benefits are identified
- Creating additional sub-claims if needed
- Conducting an investigation of the facts regarding the claim
- Evaluating the financial value of the loss
- Affording payments for the appropriate parties accordingly
- Referencing claims to other company units when necessary
- Thoroughly documenting and/or coding the claim file
- Completing all claim closure and related activities in the assigned claims management system
- Utilizing strong negotiating skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed ACG Claim Representative Training Program or demonstrated equivalent knowledge or experience
- In states requiring an Adjuster’s license, eligible to obtain within 90 days and maintain as specified
- A valid driver's license is required if primary responsibilities involve in-person inspections or meetings
- Six months of experience or equivalent training in negotiation of claim settlements, securing and evaluating evidence, preparing manual and electronic estimates, subrogation claims, and identifying recovery opportunities
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of: Essential Insurance Act (Michigan), Fair Trade Practices Act, subrogation procedures and processes, intercompany arbitration
- Ability to handle claims to the line, follow and apply ACG Claim policies, procedures and guidelines, work within assigned ACG Claim systems, perform basic claim file review and investigations, demonstrate effective communication and customer service skills, prioritize claim related functions, safely operate a motor vehicle, research and interpret subrogation laws, travel outside of assigned territory, relocate, work evenings or weekends

Pay
Average hourly salary range: $25.00 - $30.00, with the opportunity for an annual company bonus incentive.
