AOT Parts Specialist II

About the Role

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a detail‑oriented and organized Parts Specialist to support the AOT Fleet at the Rutland location. This position manages stockrooms and maintains accurate inventory of parts, materials, and supplies used in the maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicles, equipment, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Order, receive, and issue parts in compliance with Bulletin 3.5.
• Maintain a computerized inventory system.
• Ensure up‑to‑date SDS sheets are on hand and conduct routine fire‑extinguisher inspections.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts and front‑end loaders.
• Provide training and guidance to other Agency staff.
• Perform occasional fieldwork to inspect outlying inventory locations.

Environmental Factors

• Ability to lift and move heavy parts, equipment, or supplies.
• Availability to work necessary overtime during emergencies or storm situations.
• Occasional fieldwork to inspect outlying inventory locations.
• Private means of transportation may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three (3) or more years of experience in automotive parts inventory or sales, or in automotive maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Automotive vocational coursework.
• Experience with computers and ability to learn new programs.
• Experience reviewing contracts or vendor agreements.

Special Requirements

A current valid driver’s license is required.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is eligible for a sign‑on and retention bonus of up to $2,000. Newly hired CDL and non‑CDL holders who are hired into a permanent maintenance worker or mechanic job on or after July 13 2025 are eligible.
