About the Role
Demonstrated knowledge and competence in the sport(s) involved. Prior coaching, player/participant, or related experience in the sport(s) involved is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students is also required.
Pennsylvania certification in a related subject or special area is preferred, as is being a school district employee or district resident. The individual’s credentials must be in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing individuals functioning in the capacity of this position.
Responsibilities
- Team equipment and supplies
- Team practices and competitions
- Program development and school community relations
Additional duties include being directly responsible to the high school head coach, assisting the head coach with assigned duties, implementing the team or sport program, instructing players in fundamental skills, and ensuring participant safety and welfare.
It is strongly recommended that the assistant coach complete CPR Training and updates.
Qualifications and Evaluation
Assistant coaches for athletic teams shall be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director and Building Principal and shall be appointed annually.
