About the Role

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum. Document teaching and student progress, address specific educational needs, and create a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; translate plans into learning experiences.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
  • Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subjects as specified by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field through seminars, workshops, or research.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student activities, achievement, and attendance.
  • Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Coordinate with other elementary staff to evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; maintain inventory records.
  • Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities, including those involving school transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal or central office administrators.

Requirements

  • Valid PA Teacher Certification in Elementary Education for the appropriate grade level.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in a related area preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.

Skills

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Works in standard office and school building environments.

Pay

Salary Range: $54,160 to $83,501
