Anticipated Cook/Cashier

About the role

The Cook/Cashier will assist with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of the school breakfast and/or lunch program at Central York High School. They will create a professional and satisfying school experience, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with established procedures and direction of the Head Cook.
• Assist the Head Cook in estimating the quantities of food to students and staff.
• Participate in the serving of food to students and staff.
• Assist and participate in the necessary cleanup of all cafeteria-related areas.
• Maintain and practice required standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Become knowledgeable about the overall operation to ensure continuity and consistency of service in the event of personnel absence.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of safe operation of all kitchen equipment.
• Interact with students and staff in a courteous and positive manner.
• Participate in activities designed to improve the school lunch program.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation, and food safety is preferred.
• ServSafe certification is preferred.
• Cooking experience is preferred.
• General working knowledge of computers is preferred.
• Strong math skills are preferred.
• Ability to be highly structured and organized and have good communication skills is required.
• Valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal History Background clearances within the past twelve (12) months are required.

Pay

$14.40 - $19.15 per hour *Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer*
