About the Role
An Assistant Buyer partners with the Buyer to create an exciting and timely product assortment that meets or exceeds sales volume and profit goals for their department.
Responsibilities
- Assortment Execution
- Work with the Buyer to determine the overall product mix for each buying area, ensuring the final assortment is customer-oriented and curated to achieve the profit plan.
- Provide regular feedback on product in style-out and product-related meetings.
- Contribute to product development for key classes by collaborating with the Buyer and vendor partners.
- Organizational Support
- Generate ad hoc statistical reports for Buyers upon request.
- Maintain accurate Buy Sheets by class.
- Update and manage Excel reports for Buyers and Planners as needed.
- Photograph samples and maintain photo logs or libraries.
- Sample Management
- Oversee samples within the department, including obtaining samples from vendors for product meetings and ensuring their safe return.
- Organize kept samples by classification and season.
- Regularly clear out old samples to maintain a tidy sample area.
- Manage the weekly photo handover process for new product web photography.
- Communication
- Communicate clearly and professionally in all meetings and email correspondence.
- Ensure all written documents, including emails, are grammatically correct.
- Represent and confidently speak about the Anthropologie brand and customer to external market vendors.
- Manage a high volume of email streams across a diverse vendor database and provide updates to your manager regarding vendor feedback.
- Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external colleagues, including Planning, Creative, and Distribution Center teams.
- Understand all roles and responsibilities within the organization and work flexibly with teams to achieve common goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of the target customer and ability to select trends/products that align with customer expectations.
- Fundamental knowledge of business statistics (IMU%, MD%, GM%, sell-off, WOS, OTB, etc.).
- Professional communication skills (verbal and written), strong presentation abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a high sense of urgency.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to balance immediate and long-term business needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn new computer systems.
