ANTENNA MECHANIC HELPER

About the role

You will serve as an Antenna Mechanic Helper, Telecommunication Department in Cutler, Maine.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repairing antenna panels, retensioning guy wires, repairing grounding system components and sea terminals.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on VLF bushings and electronic components.
• Help repair and maintain the over $50 million VLF antenna network consisting of 26-800 to 980 foot steel towers.
• Help in continuous visual inspection, looking for cables out of place, structural damage, and electrical wiring.
• Help in inspecting and repairing guy anchor grounds, checking the guy tension, and checking tower profile.
• Help replace defective jumpers in the cross arm section, inspect bushings, inspect and repair helix coil, variometers, inspect and repair helix house wood structures, inspect and repair helix house ground connections.
• Change oil in gear boxes, grease hoist spindles, grease hoist, inspect hoist drums and change gear lubricant.

Requirements

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
