Antarctic Airfield Manager

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of airfields at McMurdo Station and South Pole
  • Act as the liaison with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and other relevant entities
  • Cook up airfield maintenance and compliance with various regulatory bodies
  • Monitor airfield inspections and runway conditions, ensuring compliance with standards
  • Prepare reports on airfield status for NSF and senior airfield users

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation management, airport operations, engineering, or business administration preferred; relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • Vehicle Operator License from a U.S. state or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five years in airfield operations or aviation management
  • Experience managing a multi-skilled workforce on airfields is essential
  • Completion of airfield management training from a military or civilian technical school required

Pay

$115,000 – $125,000 annually

Schedule

Deployment to Antarctica for a length of 7 months, with additional compensation during deployment
