About the Role
Responsible for planning and implementing strategies to drive philanthropic revenue to the Methodist Healthcare Foundation. This includes management of the annual giving program, stewardship program, and direct cultivation and solicitation of mid-level and lower-level individual donors. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision, and Values.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement the Foundation’s Annual Giving program, including mailed and electronic fundraising appeals, donor retention and elevation strategies, and management and development of donor giving societies.
- Oversee the Foundation’s Stewardship and Communication activities, including major gift donor recognition, timely informational updates, and planning and implementation of general donor stewardship communications, events, and other activities.
- Support the Foundation team’s efforts to secure philanthropic donations by planning and executing stewardship and communication strategies to strengthen donor relationships and engagement.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward low-level to mid-level prospects and donors, with emphasis on individuals.
- Collaborate with fellow department team members to leverage work products for multiple purposes and align annual giving and communication strategies with other priorities, such as planned giving, major gifts, and events.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues within and outside the department to share information, resources, and ideas to enhance the Foundation’s work.
Qualifications
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Communications, Business Administration, Journalism, Marketing, Non-profit Management, or Public Relations
Experience
- Required: 3-5 years of professional marketing, communications, and/or non-profit fundraising with emphasis in writing and communications
- Preferred: Knowledge of fundraising and development principles, methods, and procedures
Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to communicate complex written materials to all levels of management and outside parties, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong understanding of annual giving strategies, including mailed and electronic appeals.
- Ability to collaborate with individuals and groups to accomplish work and organizational goals.
- Ability to plan, schedule, manage, and organize multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to use creative thinking and problem solving to drive work plans and work products.
- Ability to meet with individual donor prospects, solicit fundraising reports, and build fundraising relationships.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an interest in developing relationships within and outside the organization.
Supervision
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but spearheads programs and project efforts.
Physical Demands
- Physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- Light work: exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
- Job functions are typically performed in general office or administrative work conditions.
- Occasional travel to meet potential donors.
