The City of Plano is excited to announce an opportunity for individuals eager to join our team as an Animal Services Officer. As a Trainee Animal Services Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the well-being of our community's animals.

Responsibilities

As an Animal Services Officer, you will be learning and performing various tasks, including:

• Mastering the operation of computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and shelter software system
• Dispatching field calls and processing daily reports
• Operating City animal services vehicles with precision, adhering to State laws and City policies
• Responding to animal complaints, removing wild animals from residences, and enforcing City of Plano ordinances and regulations
• Impounding animals, utilizing proper equipment and techniques for safe capture and containment
• Euthanizing animals with care and compassion, especially those that are trapped, high-risk, rabid, critically injured, or sick
• Removing deceased animals from various locations and maintaining meticulous records of all procedures
• Educating citizens on compliance with animal laws, responsible pet ownership, and quarantine requirements
• Representing the Local Rabies Control Authority, issuing citations or warnings, and handling citizen complaints
• Maintaining daily paperwork, utilizing shelter software for various transactions, and responding to high-volume phone calls and walk-in customers
• Assisting with off-site events such as adoption fairs, providing valuable adoption counseling to prospective pet owners
• Learning and applying proper disinfection techniques, ensuring proper identification of adoptable animals, and providing necessary medical care

Pay

The hourly salary range for this position is $22.87 - $32.02.
