About the role

The Animal Control Officer position is responsible for enforcing animal control laws, responding to animal-related emergencies, and managing the care of animals within the jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce local animal control ordinances and state laws
  • Respond to animal-related emergencies and incidents
  • Assist in the investigation of animal cruelty cases
  • Maintain records and reports related to animal control activities
  • Manage the care and treatment of animals in custody
  • Provide education and outreach to the public regarding animal welfare

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Experience working with animals preferred

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Physical stamina for field work
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and care

Skills

  • First aid and CPR certification
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
