About the role
The Animal Control Officer position is responsible for enforcing animal control laws, responding to animal-related emergencies, and managing the care of animals within the jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Enforce local animal control ordinances and state laws
- Respond to animal-related emergencies and incidents
- Assist in the investigation of animal cruelty cases
- Maintain records and reports related to animal control activities
- Manage the care and treatment of animals in custody
- Provide education and outreach to the public regarding animal welfare
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a background check
- Experience working with animals preferred
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Physical stamina for field work
- Knowledge of animal behavior and care
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
