Animal Control Officer

About the role

The role involves managing animal control operations, enforcing local ordinances, and providing public education on responsible pet ownership.

Responsibilities

• Enforce local animal control laws and ordinances
• Respond to animal-related emergencies and complaints
• Provide educational programs to the public about responsible pet care
• Handle animal impoundments and euthanasia procedures as necessary
• Collaborate with other departments to address community concerns

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field preferred
• One year of experience in law enforcement or animal control
• Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques

Skills

• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
