About the role

The Greenville Zoo seeks an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our dedicated Animal Section team. This position involves providing daily care for assigned animals, maintaining exhibits and grounds to AZA standards, and participating in guest engagement activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide Animal Care: Prepare animal diets, clean enclosures, observe and record animal behavior, and plan enrichment activities.
• Perform Exhibit Area Maintenance: Maintain exhibits and grounds, perform landscaping tasks, and make simple repairs.
• Engage with Guests: Offer professional presentations, support special events, and assist with media interviews.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of professional experience in exotic animal care.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in biology, zoology, animal science, conservation, wildlife, or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of exotic animal care, animal behavior, and enrichment techniques.
• Ability to recognize animal behavior cues and respond appropriately.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with the public.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
