About the role

West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking anesthesiologists to join its multispecialty anesthesia division, which includes neuroanesthesia, regional & acute pain, pediatric, and obstetric anesthesia. The department also has needs for physicians with critical care and cardiac fellowship training or expertise. Since 2016, WVU Health has experienced significant growth, and the Department of Anesthesiology has been a major contributor. The program’s heart is the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, a 700+‑bed academic medical center that houses a Level 1 trauma center and a Level 2 pediatric trauma center. The anesthesia team provides care for more than 43,000 procedures per year, a number that continues to rise.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for a broad range of multispecialty cases, including neuroanesthesia, regional & acute pain, pediatric, and obstetric anesthesia.
• Manage critical care and cardiac anesthesia cases as appropriate to fellowship training or expertise.
• Participate in innovative clinical and education research projects.
• Contribute to the education of the next generation of anesthesiologists using the department’s anesthesiologist‑developed simulation center for training at all levels.
• Engage in faculty mentorship and leadership development with direct support from the Chair and department leaders.

Requirements

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible anesthesiologist (MD/DO).
• Fellowship training in critical care, cardiac anesthesia, or other subspecialty areas is preferred.
• Experience or interest in multispecialty anesthesia (neuro, regional/acute pain, pediatric, obstetric).
• Ability to work 40‑45 hours per week with no mandatory overnight call.

Pay

$470,000 – $516,000 per year.

Schedule
