About the Role

HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Director of Anesthesiology to join an established, patient-centric team in Tampa, FL. The Facility Medical Director will collaborate with the Operations team, Hospital Administration, and APP leadership to uphold the group’s mission of fostering a respectful work environment, leading by example, and delivering excellent patient care.

The ideal candidate will excel in communication and relationship-building, representing the Anesthesia department as a true partner within the organization. Responsibilities include ensuring the highest standards of healthcare delivery and outcomes, employee satisfaction and retention, and monitoring efficiencies and quality metrics. Previous leadership experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee an Anesthesia Care Team model consisting of 4 Anesthesiologists and 10 CRNAs covering 10 ORs, Cath Lab, IR, and Endo.
• Supervise CRNAs at a 1:4 ratio.
• Manage a diverse mix of highly complex cases, including General, Bariatric, Ortho/Spine, Vascular, Neuro, GYN, GI, Endo, ENT, and Urology.
• No trauma, OB, or pediatric cases.
• Average of 25 surgical cases per day.
• Average workweek of 45 hours, Monday through Friday.
• Beeper call shared equitably among physicians.
• Proficiency in block scheduling required.
