About the role
The Anesthesia Technician position is part of the Neurological Institute at Cleveland Clinic, which is expanding with a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance care for complex neurological conditions.
Responsibilities
- Stock the carts and surgical suites with the required supplies as outlined on the anesthesia surgical suite stock par list.
- Absorb difficult airway management by assisting with equipment needs from the providers.
- Deliver blood samples to the lab and retrieve blood products.
- Disassemble, decontaminate, and sterilize anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Report equipment problems to the management team, stock items in the workroom, and keep the workroom clean and in an orderly condition.
- Perform Point of Care (POCT) testing procedures, after an initial approved competency has been completed.
- Communicate effectively with anesthesia and operating room staff to prioritize daily operating room assignments.
- Transport anesthesia related equipment and supplies to and from outside of Operating Rooms off-site locations.
- Maintain complete and accurate records and check the status of orders and equipment.
- Maintain anesthesia supplies by establishing inventory levels, requisitioning supplies, and restocking supplies.
- Prepare and test a variety of anesthetic equipment for surgical use, troubleshoot equipment for problems or repairs, perform preventative maintenance, and routine cleaning.
- Turn over rooms to minimize downtime between cases.
- Retrieve and appropriately distribute the equipment necessary to prepare a patient for anesthesia.
- Set up IV's and pediatric procedures, and distribute necessary medications to the Anesthesiologist, CRNA, or AA for the preparation or care of a patient for anesthesia.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year experience working in a healthcare setting OR successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or similar healthcare-related training program
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science can substitute one year of work experience in healthcare
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, or PowerPoint
- Direct patient care and/or surgical/OR environment experience
- Experience in a clinical setting
- Leadership experience
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods walking, standing, lifting and carrying equipment (usually not over 20 lbs.)
- Capable of pushing and maneuvering equipment weighing up to 150 pounds
- May be exposed to bodily fluids
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Pay
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $15.75
Maximum hourly: $21.65
