About the role
The Anesthesia Technician I supports anesthesia services and ancillary departments to ensure smooth surgical or special procedure flows.
Responsibilities
- Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders/stocks and maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Maintain anesthesia medications, supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules.
- Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra and post anesthesia, considering age-specific issues.
- Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defects and malfunctions.
- Maintains departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.
- Absorbs and documents other activities in the department.
- Assists with transport of patients, laboratory specimens, and pick-up of blood.
- Assists with setup of invasive & non-invasive monitoring and ventilator equipment in ORs & PACUs.
- Operates Steris machine to sterilize equipment and keeps records according to policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent degree.
- One year experience as an Anesthesia Technician in an acute care setting.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an ASATT approved program.
- Certified Anesthesiology Technician (ASATT).
Skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
