Anesthesia Technician Assistant

Duties

• Demonstrates basic knowledge of anesthesia delivery systems, scavenger systems, gas analyzers, EKGs, pulse oximeters, and other anesthesia-related equipment.
• Responds to and investigates all anesthesia machine alarms, reporting malfunctioning equipment and ensuring replacement.
• Manages the inventory of supplies, ensuring they are stocked and within expiration dates, and secures medications at all times.
• Properly disposes of used medications and monitors refrigerators utilized for the stock of medications.
• Provides peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional staff for the delivery of patient care.
• Affords assistance with the preparation and maintenance of sterile supplies and medications.
• Supports the anesthesia team by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
• Assists with cleaning, setting up, and maintaining anesthesia equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions as needed.
• Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies, and personnel to facilitate department functions.
• Ensures the availability of necessary equipment in each operating room and participates in room turnovers to ensure efficient flow of cases.
• Assembles and operates specialized equipment such as humidification units, fiber optic endoscopic equipment, rapid infusion devices, blood warmers, patient warming devices, neuromuscular devices, infusion pumps, and syringes.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Education & Experience

• High School Grad or Equiv (Preferred)
• Field Of Study: N/A
• Work Experience: 1+ year of healthcare experience (Preferred)
