Duties
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of anesthesia delivery systems, scavenger systems, gas analyzers, EKGs, pulse oximeters, and other anesthesia-related equipment.
- Responds to and investigates all anesthesia machine alarms, reporting malfunctioning equipment and ensuring replacement.
- Manages the inventory of supplies, ensuring they are stocked and within expiration dates, and secures medications at all times.
- Properly disposes of used medications and monitors refrigerators utilized for the stock of medications.
- Provides peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional staff for the delivery of patient care.
- Affords assistance with the preparation and maintenance of sterile supplies and medications.
- Supports the anesthesia team by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
- Assists with cleaning, setting up, and maintaining anesthesia equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions as needed.
- Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies, and personnel to facilitate department functions.
- Ensures the availability of necessary equipment in each operating room and participates in room turnovers to ensure efficient flow of cases.
- Assembles and operates specialized equipment such as humidification units, fiber optic endoscopic equipment, rapid infusion devices, blood warmers, patient warming devices, neuromuscular devices, infusion pumps, and syringes.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Education & Experience
- High School Grad or Equiv (Preferred)
- Field Of Study: N/A
- Work Experience: 1+ year of healthcare experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
