About the role
This per diem position supports the Cath Lab by maintaining anesthesia supplies and equipment, assisting with invasive line preparation, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment. The role involves working closely with anesthesiologists and procedural healthcare teams at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Arizona.
Schedule
- Per diem; no guaranteed hours
- Shifts available: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- No call, no weekends
Responsibilities
- Maintains anesthesia equipment, including cleaning, calibrating, and replacing soda lime
- Monitors equipment for malfunctions, performs light maintenance, or arranges repairs
- Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment; discards soiled linen and trash
- Completes room setup, assembles equipment, and prepares procedure carts
- Stocks and marks anesthesia carts, operating rooms, and storage rooms
- Assists with case turnover and prepares equipment such as ventilators, suction, airway equipment, and fluid/body warmers
- Assembles transducers, invasive lines, rapid fluid infusers, and specialty trays
- Assists anesthesia personnel with setup and insertion of invasive monitoring lines, catheters, temporary pacemakers, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Assists with transporting and positioning patients; may transport specimens or post-operative patients to critical care units
- Maintains adequate levels of anesthesia medications, restocks drug drawers, monitors drug charges, and communicates variances
- Monitors drug expirations and opened vials for outdates
- Handles anesthesia agents and cylinder gases
- May provide business support, including administrative tasks
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be uploaded with application)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Anesthesia Tech or in a procedural area (must be reflected in resume)
- Employees hired after 1/1/2024 must complete the Anesthesia Technician Academy within 6 months of hire
