About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Staff Android Engineer to join the Cash App Consumer Platform team. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader, influencing the architecture and development of foundational Android systems that underpin the entire Cash App ecosystem. Your expertise will help shape the future of Android platform development by creating scalable, robust, and innovative infrastructure that accelerates product delivery and enhances user experience. As a key driver in integrating AI-native development practices, you will explore and implement AI-powered capabilities that transform how our engineering teams build and operate applications. You will operate at an organizational level, identifying systemic problems, setting standards, and mentoring engineers across multiple teams. Your work will directly impact millions of users by enabling faster, safer, and more reliable financial services on Android devices worldwide.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Android development experience with demonstrated impact at an organizational scale
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Deep expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modern architecture patterns, and performance profiling
• Proven experience building developer platforms, shared libraries, or internal tooling used across large engineering teams
• Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design simple yet effective solutions
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and a strategic vision for AI-native development
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of producing clear design documentation and fostering cross-team collaboration
• Experience with mobile experimentation infrastructure, feature flagging, or A/B testing at scale (preferred)
• Background working in fintech, financial services, or regulated environments (preferred)
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform is a plus

Responsibilities

• Build and own the core Android platform infrastructure, including modularization, dependency injection, navigation, deep linking, and app lifecycle management
• Design and deliver shared libraries and frameworks that enhance developer productivity and support AI ergonomics
• Drive the evolution of Cash App’s Android architecture by making strategic, high-leverage technical decisions
• Invent and open-source innovative Android platform technologies that benefit the broader developer community
• Implement rapid experimentation capabilities to support fast iteration cycles, especially in AI-driven development
• Enhance observability and performance tooling to provide engineers with clarity and confidence in their work
• Collaborate with iOS, Web, and backend teams to ensure consistent, high-quality cross-platform experiences
• Lead the integration of AI-native practices into Android engineering workflows, evaluating emerging AI development tools and techniques
• Identify cross-cutting technical challenges and mobilize resources to address systemic issues proactively
• Mentor and develop engineers across all levels, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Represent Android platform needs in cross-functional discussions, advocating for scalable and sustainable solutions
