About The Role
We are seeking a talented Android Engineer to join our Seller Engineering organization within the Merchant Systems team. The Inventory team is responsible for developing internal and product systems that enable sellers to create, organize, represent, and manage inventory at scale on Whatnot. As an Android Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and building mobile experiences that are central to the seller and buyer journey. Your work will directly influence how thousands of new sellers and buyers discover, get started, and succeed on our platform each week.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping high-quality Android applications
- Proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Strong knowledge of reactive programming with Kotlin Coroutines and Flows
- Experience with MVI or MVVM architecture patterns
- Expertise in creating fluid, responsive user interfaces
- Deep understanding of product quality and performance optimization
- Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams including product, design, and backend engineers
- Comfortable with data-driven decision making using SQL, Snowflake, and A/B testing
- Excellent communication skills and ability to drive alignment in fast-paced environments
- Growth mindset with a demonstrated ability to take ownership from concept to launch and mentor others
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality Android features utilizing Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to define project goals, scope, and technical trade-offs
- Contribute to the development of shared mobile infrastructure and best practices across the engineering organization
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and technical discussions to uphold engineering standards
- Ensure the performance, usability, and reliability of mobile applications
- Engage in cross-team collaboration to deliver impactful features that enhance user experience
- Use data and experimentation to inform product decisions and optimize features
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
