About the role

WSP is seeking an Ancillary Inspection Assistant Team Leader to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in Boston, MA. This opportunity offers the chance to work on a variety of inspection-related projects and contribute to shaping communities and the future.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Ancillary Inspection Team on various inspection projects.
  • Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
  • Develop plans/sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project execution.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members.
  • Support project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
  • Prepare cost proposals and scope of work documents.
  • Collect and maintain project documentation.
  • Complete training on specific tasks.
  • Stay updated on latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of post-education experience in bridge, tunnel, or ancillary inspection or design, or other infrastructure-related work.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and their application to project work-related issues.
  • Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation, or related fields, with a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Physically capable of performing continuous field work, including working at heights and in close quarters; climbing; carrying ladders and gear; working in adverse weather conditions; and working at night; around moving vehicles; etc.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check and a valid Driver’s License.
  • Cumulative interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel, including potential overnight stays, may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.

Pay

Expected Salary Range: $79,600 - $129,800

Schedule

This position has the potential to work 50% of the time in the field and 50% in the office.
