About the Role
KX News (KXNET) in Bismarck, North Dakota is seeking an Anchor/MMJ for Good Day Dakota, our weekday morning newscast. The ideal candidate will anchor a live morning show with energy, produce impactful daily hard news stories, and create engaging content for streaming and social platforms.
The Multimedia Journalist produces, reports, shoots, writes, voices, edits, and feeds news content for all platforms in a clear, engaging, and meaningful way.
Responsibilities
- Anchor Good Day Dakota weekday morning newscasts with energy and authority
- Conduct live in-studio and field interviews with newsmakers and community guests
- Report factual and fair daily news stories for broadcast
- Arrange interviews with sources to provide information or engaging content for streaming shows
- Review and correct copy for errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
- Research and analyze background information related to news stories to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Pitch at least three relevant local news stories per shift to news managers and producers
- Shoot and edit news events and reports, including occasional live shots
- Ensure all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Write stories for the web and other digital platforms
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience (preferred)
- Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad lib when required
- Experience in news anchoring and reporting
- Superior on-air presence
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Flexibility to work early morning hours and any shift as news demands

- Ability to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use email, write letters and memos, and engage in face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups
- Make decisions without supervision and impact the work of co-workers
- Work in close proximity to others, both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, with repetitive movements required
- Work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions
